Strong schools build strong communities. Our district faces real challenges—from teacher shortages to outdated facilities, from divisive politics in the classroom to families struggling for economic security. I’m committed to solutions that put students, parents, and teachers first—not political agendas. Here’s how:
1. Recruit and Retain Great Teachers
Florida ranks near the bottom in teacher pay, and our rural communities feel this the most.
- Fight for federal incentives and grants to help rural schools attract and keep qualified teachers.
- Expand student loan forgiveness and housing stipends for educators who commit to teaching in high-need districts.
- Support paraprofessional-to-teacher apprenticeship programs to build local talent pipelines.
2. End the Politics, Teach the Truth
Our classrooms should be about education, not political theater. The recent fights over so-called “critical race theory” distract from real issues and strip teachers of the tools they need to teach accurate American history.
- Ensure curriculum decisions are based on facts and educational standards—not ideology.
- Protect teachers from censorship while respecting parents’ role in their children’s learning.
- Promote inclusive education that teaches all of Florida’s rich history, including contributions and struggles of every community.
4. Support Our Most Vulnerable Students
Too many children with disabilities, homeless students, and ESL students are falling through the cracks.
- Protect and fully fund Head Start, IDEA, and after-school programs.
- Advocate for mental health services in every school.
- Expand access to nutritious school meals and wraparound services for families in crisis.
5. Prepare Our Students for the Jobs of Tomorrow
Our economy is changing, and education must keep pace.
- Partner with local businesses, trade schools, and colleges to expand vocational and technical training.
- Create career pathways programs in high-demand fields like health care, advanced manufacturing, and renewable energy.
- Invest in STEM education so our students can compete in a global economy.
Our schools should be centers of learning and opportunity—not battlefields for political agendas. As your representative, I will fight for fully funded, future-ready schools, respect for teachers, and real solutions for working families. Together, we can ensure every child in Florida’s 6th District has the tools to succeed—and every teacher has the respect and resources they deserve.
